Origins and development
The municipal cemetery was established in 1809 and expanded in 1876 and 1898. Its position beside the Capuchin monastery explains its other name, Friedhof am Kapuzinerkloster. The current visitor and administration address Kapuzinerweg 6 and the historic address Klosterweg 21 refer to these grounds.
Origins: Established in 1809. The cemetery is in Rosenheim, beside the Capuchin monastery, at Kapuzinerweg 6, 83022 Rosenheim. Its area is approximately 8 hectares.
Design and present-day character
The municipal cemetery beside the Capuchin monastery covers eight hectares and is one of the city centre’s large continuous green spaces. Its plot plan distinguishes 82 numbered sections; a section number and entrance are more useful for a grave search than the cemetery name alone.
Read this character description together with the development of Rosenheim Cemetery: it identifies what gives the grounds their present identity without turning the cemetery into a purely historical attraction. A visit can focus on spatial structure and named orientation points while leaving individual graves undisturbed.
Connect the account with the grounds
The cemetery map contains 10 named places for Rosenheim Cemetery. Among them are Pedestrian gate 1, Cemetery administration, Memorial to those who died in the Inn and in war. Use these names to relate the historical account to locations visible during a visit, without assuming that every historical feature has its own marker.
